My little Esme

Ok I know its kind of lame that all I have to write about is my dogs....but they are my babies. And we had our first emergency vet visit on sat night. It was a fun ordeal. I took her in at midnight because she just kept throwing up over and over. (Anyone have a carpet cleaner I could borrow?? ) My diagnosis was that she just ate something bad outside. She likes to eat her own poo so when she was throwing that up, I figured that's what it was. But she just didn't stop! So I started getting nervous. So I decided if I saw blood at all, I would take her in. And sure enough...she was pooping blood as well. So then I took her in, it was around midnight. We were there till 2am. The tested her for Parvo, and when that came back negative, they ran some x-rays to see if she ate something like a toy or something that was causing internal damage. Nothing again! So I asked about the eating poo, he said its possible. But you know, he never really gave me a straight answer, now that I think about it. I was just so relieved she didn't have parvo. Dogs die from that disease. So they prescribed some antibiotic pills, and some other liquid medicine, and then told me to go to Walgreens and get Pepcid AC and Pedialite! To keep her hydrated and help keep her from throwing up. But wouldn't you know, as soon as we got to the vet, she seemed fine. Little stinker. She cost me $560 bucks!! But it was worth it, knowing that she was alright. There was a couple there when we got there, and it seemed like they were going to put their dog down. The girl was crying, and the guy went in to say goodbye. That was so so sad. Anyway so the meds were prescribed for every 2 hours. So I was up at 4am, then 6am, and 8am on Sunday. I guess that is good practice for when I'm a real mom some day! But man, was I tired!! Here are some pics cause yes, she is my baby. =)

Waiting for the Vet to come in the room. This was a little table that also weighs her. 14 pounds OMG!!

They had to sedate her for the x-rays, so this is afterwards, her sleepy eyes. She also had her tongue sticking out. Poor baby.
The medicine they gave her, I guess they had to give shots in her legs. So both her little paws were all wrapped up.
I love my little Esme. I'm so glad she's ok.

Glad she's okay. that was an expensive visit! Guess I'm not getting a check anytime soon huh? :) Guess your new car is put off for a few more months too. Oh well, se la vie! Welcome to mommyhood!

Sounds about right. Too bad kids are way more expensive than that sometimes! Good practice. :)
